International Day of Peace

The International Day of Peace is celebrated every year on 21 September. It is dedicated to peace, particularly in the absence of war, which must be manifested by a cease-fire in war zones. It is observed in many countries since its inception in 1981.


Every year around the world celebrates the International Day of Peace on 21 September. The General Assembly said the day would be devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace both within countries and peoples between them.

For 2016 the theme of the Day is: The objectives of sustainable development, peace components.

To strengthen the ideals of peace both within nations and peoples and between them, the International Day of Peace is celebrated every year on September 21
